Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins has died, the band says
Taylor Hawkins, the golden-locked musician who drummed the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for Foo Fighters for more than two decades, has died, the band said Friday - an announcement was made shortly before the group's play in Colombia.
"The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins. His musical spirit and contagious smile will live on with all of us forever," the band said on Twitter. "Our hearts go out to his wife, children and family and we urge you to consider their privacy with the utmost respect during this unimaginably difficult time."

"We were in the position when they announced that the Foo Fighters would not perform, but why they did not say so. About 10 minutes later, the news broke that Taylor was dead," Reyes said.
Hawkins began with Foo Fighters and as a musician
The Foo Fighters were formed in 1994 by Dave Grohl, who had been the drummer with Nirvana.
Three years later, with drummer William Goldsmith departing, Texas-born Hawkins joined the band after previously being the drummer with the Alanis Morissette band.
In 2019, Hawkins recalled to British magazine Kerrang! how he got the job: He'd heard Goldsmith had departed, and he gave Grohl -- an acquaintance he'd met on the road -- a call.
"I said, 'I heard you're looking for an asphalt,' and he said, 'Well, do you know anyone?' I thought Alanis wanted to go in a quieter direction, and that seemed like the right time to jump. I didn't need Alanis! I basically told Dave, 'I'll play the drums for you,' and we jammed a few times, "Hawkins told Kerang!
Hawkins was remembered
Foo Fighters was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year, its first year of qualification.
Hawkins' final performance was on March 20 in Lolapaluza, Argentina. News of his death cast a shadow of mourning on social media for fans and fellow musicians - and tributes included videos from that last show.
Concertgoer Franco Tolon tweeted footage of Hawkins singing a cover of "Somebody to Love" by the Queen in that March 20 appearance.
"Who would have thought that we would witness the last performance of Taylor Hawkins' life ... a shock. Farewell, the beast of music," wrote Tolon's post.
Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello tweeted: "God bless you Taylor Hawkins. I love your soul and your irresistible rock strength. Rest in peace my friend."
Miley Cyrus, who is scheduled to perform in Lolapaluza Brasilia on Saturday, said on Instagram that she would dedicate her performance to Hawkins in Sao Paulo.
And speaking of the character of singer Ozzy Osborne Hawkins, he was "a really great person and an amazing musician."
"My heart, my love and my sympathy for his wife, his children, his family, his band and his fans. See you on the other side," Osborne wrote on Twitter.
